After working up such an appetite Christa provided the perfect sunny afternoon treat: ice-cream sandwiches. This was Ty's first experience with ice-cream and it was love at first lick. After he wolfed down his and part of mine he started eying up Anna's and would open his mouth as wide as he could anytime she took a bite. Ha! By the end of the day he was wet, sandy, chocolaty, sun-kissed and oh-so-happy. He ate a huge dinner then fell straight into bed without a peep.

Day for Mama
Yesterday was a day for Mamas and we did our share of celebrating. My day started off with sleeping in and a sweet card and gift card from Tyler. Later that afternoon we met Jim's family for Mother's Day lunch. Tyler had a blast socializing with his cousins, Aunt Shannon, Uncle Mark and Nana and Papa. The hit of the lunch for the kids were the balloon animals they all had made. Tyler got a baby alligator and LOVED him! What a fun way to spend Mother's Day, surrounded by family and friends. Thanks to my son and husband for making the day so special for me. I love y'all!

15 months
Yesterday we had Tyler's 15 month check up and here are his latest stats.
weight: 28 lbs (90th percentile)
height: 31 inches (49th percentile)
height: 31 inches (49th percentile)
We spent the majority of his appointment talking about his leg. He was x-rayed again and it came out clean. His doctor assured us that he'll be up and about again in no time. He is improving his mobility each day so we're just trying to be patient.
Other topics of conversation were his naps and vocabulary. He's pretty much moved to 1 nap a day now. Occasionally he'll still go down in the morning but I have to wake him up after an hour if we want him to go down later too. It took some trial and error but we've found he'll take a good 2 hour nap if he's down around 11:30. Any earlier or later and we're lucky to get an hour and he's a total crab.
He's been building up his vocab for a little while now. When I told his doctor all his words she was pretty impressed with how many he says. Words he uses often now are: Hi (or Hi ya!), hot, touch, catch, car, down (we think), dada and pup. He's also working on "ball" and has finally started saying "mama" although he needs to be prompted.
Within the past week he's broken through another tooth on the bottom and two more are working on coming in on the top. When those 2 are in he'll have a total of ten teeth, 6 on top and 4 on the bottom.
Something new he's recently started doing is giving hugs and kisses. When you ask him to hug his bear or pup he'll pull it close to his chest, raise his shoulders and smile. He's also realizing what kisses are. When we ask to kiss him he'll turn his head and stick out his cheek to us. Then he'll press his open mouth against your cheek and say, "mmwwaaa". So cute!!!
Overall, he's healthy and right on track with his milestones. Yay!

Good News
It's been a rough couple of days but we ended up on a high note. Wednesday night we removed Tyler's splint. The rest of that night and the next morning he was more and more mobile but still wasn't walking on it so we made an appointment with an orthopedic doctor to rule out a fracture. Then Thursday afternoon Tyler suddenly came down with a fever of 103. Fearing an infection related to his leg we called the doctor and they told us to take him in right away. So, for the second time in three days, we were rushing to urgent care. Luckily, the fever turned out to be caused by an ear infection and has been responding to the medication.
This morning we left for our appointment with the orthopedic doctor. He was wonderful and had Tyler at ease better than any doctor thus far. He poked and prodded at Tyler's leg and pronounced him healthy as a horse. He said it is most likely a small strain or pull and he should be running around again in a couple weeks. Music to our ears!
Next week we have Tyler's 15 month check up scheduled then we hope to steer clear of doctor's offices for a long time! Thanks to everyone for showing such concern for Tyler. We're really blessed to have such great family and friends.
Here's a really cute video of Tyler from about a week ago.
