A Wonderful Wednesday

Yesterday Christa and I kicked off our Wednesday playdates for 2008 and it was a blast! Christa and Anna came over to our neck of the woods and played the day away. Tyler had fun showing Anna all his new toys and Anna showed off how well she walks now. Anna loved Tyler's rocking horse and was asking to pet it all afternoon. Tyler, who had missed his morning nap, was pretty quiet at first. Anna quickly warmed him up by repeating his name and giving him lots of kisses. So cute!!! Thanks for a fun day Christa and Anna!

Baby Steps

Now that Tyler has mastered standing on his two legs he has moved on to figuring out how to move around. The best way he has found to do this is to use his Leap Frog table as a walker. He has a toy that is an actual walker, but the wheels move him a little faster than he is ready for. The table actually works pretty well as it slides smoothly on the carpet but only when he pushes on it. The first time I saw him do this I thought he was falling down. He proved me wrong by moving all the way across the basement. Watch at the end of the video how he moves to a different side of the table to steer in a new direction. What a smarty!!

First Day of Class

I recently signed Tyler up for a music class that his friend Anna enjoys and today was the first day. There are about seven other kids in the class and Tyler is the youngest. Much of the class is spent sitting in a circle singing songs or dancing around. There are also props the kids play with like scarves, eggs that rattle and a variety of musical instruments. While Tyler was a little shy at first, sitting quietly in my lap, he soon found his courage and crawled to the middle of the circle with the other kids to grab for an instrument. He had a blast watching the other older kids dance about and would occasionally join in the singing by shouting "dada!" at the top of his lungs. He had a hard time saying "bye- bye" to the instruments but recovered quickly when the teacher started singing a new song with lots of silly noises. There was one little girl that looked a lot like his friend Anna and he headed straight for her the first chance he got. Towards the end of class one little boy, William, was dancing in the middle of the circle all by himself and decided to take his pants off. It was pretty wild! On the way home he talked the whole time so I think music class was a hit! We can't wait until next Monday!

Go Wolves

Yesterday Tyler experienced his very first Wolves basketball game. They played the Dallas Mavericks, fittingly, and although they lost the afternoon was a lot of fun. Jim was able to get a suite for the game and invited his family and some of our friends and their children to come too. Our suite looked more like Romper Room than a basketball game! It was fun to catch up with friends as it had been way too long since we've all gotten together and it was great to see all the little ones playing with each other. By the end of the game all the kids were rosy cheeked and tuckered out from chasing each other around. Tyler even had to abandon his socks and pants! Thanks for a memorable afternoon Dada!!

New Year, New Trick

Well, Tyler didn't waste any time getting after his New Year resolutions. He has mastered the art of pulling himself up to standing. It's amazing how much confidence he's gained in this feat during the past 2 days and now he does it everywhere; his toy box, chairs, ottomans, toys, toilet, dishwasher, and me just to name a few. Even after experiencing a few spills he shows no fear in hoisting his little body up. Check him out!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone!!
Jim and I rang in 2008 like rock stars with our neighbors Meg and Joe. After all the boys were in bed we feasted on a dinner of delicious appetizers such as meatballs and lettuce wraps. YUM!

Then we rocked the night away playing Rock Band. This is a video game just like Guitar Hero but with an additional bass guitar, drums and vocals. At midnight we watched the ball drop then played one final encore set before crossing the street to hit the hay.

2007 brought us much change and many blessings. We are so looking forward to 2008 and all the wonder it has to offer our family.
